The Proteus is an underground cave animal originally from the Italian alpine region and Slovenia. The city of Kranj, Slovenia, with the help of the proteus laboratory called Tular Cave Laboratory, have built the SOS Proteus Information Centre through a public-private equity partnership to implement innovative solutions for the conservation of these animals.
