With achieving over a third of all overnight tourists in Croatia, the need for sustainable practices in region of Istria is growing more and more. To ensure this is achieve the Eco Domus label got introduced. It teached small accommodation provider sustainability practices. Now there are already 45 accommodations that achieved this label providing better quality and more sustainable accommodations to visitors.
50% of accommodation used by tourists visiting the Region of Istria are private accommodation. One of the goal of the region is to bring more balance in accommodation structure and diversify offer. They created Eco Domus, a private accommodation certification program that covers all relevant themes from water, food and drink, to health, washing and light and noise pollution. To day, there are 45 accommodations certified, and numbers are rising.
