Green Tourism Scheme of Slovenian tourism is a program initiated in 2015 under the leadership of the Slovenian Tourist Board. Supported by GoodPlace and Green Destinations, the program aims to feature Slovenia as the world’s most sustainable tourism destination.
To formalize and uphold sustainability standards, Slovenia introduced a national certification program, through a white-label approach of the Green Destinations Awards and Certification Program. Initially developed for destinations, the certification framework was later expanded to include accommodations, parks, travel agencies, attractions, gastronomy, and beaches. This structured approach ensured that all key players in the tourism sector were aligned with the country’s sustainability objectives.
Today, Slovenia proudly boasts over 60 certified Slovenian Green Destinations, demonstrating the widespread adoption and success of the program.
